Barnard's Summer Adventures
Our Summer is halfway over now, but it has been a good one. We have all been busy with so many activities. Here is a brief run down of all we have been doing.
There was much joy and rejoicing on May 22. No more school for the Summer. The kids all loved school, but were happy for a break.
Blake: Blake continues to train for bike race after bike race. In May he was able to participate in the Dirty Kanza, a very popular gravel bike race. This year he did the 50 mile race, but will prepare for the 100 next year. Because of all the rain, the trail was super muddy (imagine biking through peanut butter). It was super hard, but he did a great job and we were so proud of him.
He took the scouts to Colorado for a week and enjoyed sand boarding, white water rafting and hiking. We were glad to have him home!
April: April was able attend Girls' camp this year with Emisha and Abby. She served as the Stake Camp Music Chair, Level 4 Certification Leader, and assistant Stake Certification leader. It was fun to be there with the girls. She has completed her term as a school board member and looking forward to spending time on other endeavors. She put a record number of miles of the van running the kids every where.
Emisha: Emisha finished out her Freshman year strong. She did great as a distance runner in track. She lettered in Orchestra and loved putting on a great spring show for choir. She completed one year of early morning seminary...only 3 to go. She got a Summer job working at Orange Leaf, a frozen yogurt joint run by her Sunday School teacher. She is saving all the money for choir and orchestra trips next year. Every day she comes home with a large tub of frozen yogurt buried in toppings..the kids love it.

Abby: Abby has officially grown taller than Emisha. We can't believe how she is growing. She made the cheer team for her school next year and spent one week attending cheer camp. She is queen of the selfies. If you let her hold/use your camera or phone, you will end up with pictures of her all over the place. She has been spending a lot of time helping mothers take care of their babies. She loves kids and is so good with them.
Matthew: Matthew is super busy. This summer he volunteers at the library 3 days a week. He helps them with their story/craft hour and summer reading program. He spent a week learning clay skills from the art teacher. He created boxes, bowls, and sculptures. He especially loved using the potter's wheel. He still does karate is has started to really enjoy biking, just like Dad. He makes good money mowing lawns for the neighbors. He is the proud owner of Zack and Nari: two baby betta fish.
Haley: Haley started gymnastics this summer and is really loving it. She is a great cheerleader for all her older siblings and parents. I think she is most excited about Emisha's job because she really loves the treats.
