Blasers- March and April

Jimmy's parents were here for a month. Surprisingly they didn't get on my nerves too bad for that long. While they were here, Jimmy and I took a anniversary trip to Cancun, Mexico with two other couples.

Although we weren't there very long, we made the most of our time. We went and visited Chichen Itza. We relaxed by the pool a lot with pina colada's  and also went to swim and cliff jump in a well.

While Jimmy's parents were here, his mom taught James (see how I am trying to switch his name) to sew. We went to the fabric store and he got to pick his own fabric out. It is definitely not what I would pick but oh well. He then sewed a small quilt. I don't have a picture of the final thing because she took it home with her to quilt the top and bind it, but here is them working on it.
We also took advantage of the extra help and scheduled Colby to have his third set of tubes put in. Afterwards I told him I would take him to breakfast since he was starving. He chose the Waffle House. We kept life pretty simple with grandma and grandpa Blaser and did everyday things like get ice cream. The kids had a lot of fun. It was good to have the kids spend some time with them.
I finally got my bookshelves installed by my fireplace. I love them but the kids seem to think they are a play ground. Until I get them painted and decorated, I don't think I am going to be able to keep them off.

School has been busy with fundraisers, dress-up days, make-up days, and testing. James comes home from school and I fight with him to do homework. He has lots to do to review for the big state test coming up. It's so much pressure for a kid in 2nd grade! Here are some pictures of dress up day on Dr. Suess' birthday.

Clay also had surgery last month on his little boy parts. Basically when he peed, it was almost impossible to get it in the toilet, even when he was sitting down sometimes too. It was bad and the bathroom was always a mess. It wasn't his fault though. They went in and fixed it and re-routed the pee. Now he has no problems. His favorite part about that was the Popsicle and sprite afterwards.

We had fun on April Fools day. I had toilet papered the boys bedrooms while they were sleeping. They liked it when they woke up but said "it wasn't a good 'joke' and wanted more 'prank-like' things." What kind of monsters have I created? I got Clay good when I buried a fake spider in all of their bowls of goldfish. When he saw it, he was not happy with it. He wouldn't even touch it for a picture so I had him hold up the bowl.

I had mentioned in the last newsletter that last quarter James earned the 'Terrific Kid' award for his class. Well Colby received it this quarter. We are so proud of him. He has also taken off with his reading and so well in school. Last weekend we noticed he wasn't hearing as good again which usually means he is congested. I looked in his good hearing ear and there was pus coming out of it. The poor kid hadn't even complained that it hurt. We took him in to get drops and now it is clearing up.
Last week was our spring break. A friend of mines dad has a house at myrtle beach so she and I took the kids down there for a couple of days while the dads worked. The weather wasn't the greatest but we did get to see the beach two of the days that weren't rainy and cold.
The other days, we played miniature golf, went to the aquarium, and went to a dinner show called pirates voyage. My kids loved it! I recommend it if you are ever by one. We then stayed at home the last half of the break. I could tell the kids were ready to go back to school when I found them one morning in the TV room doing Yoga. They had mentioned wanting to do it a couple days before so they had found it on a channel and got their stretches in.

Jimmy is right in the middle of a 3 week audit at work. He is working like crazy and a little more stressed then usual. I will be glad when it is over next week.  He has also been busy coaching soccer. He is the assistant coach of James' team and the coach of Colby and Nates team. I hope everyone has a beautiful Easter!
